Purchasing a Paver Stone is a great way to have your club and yourself recognized at the museum forever.
See the attachment above.

Consider this as a club donation to a very good cause. The museum grand opening is slated for September 2011.
The cutoff date for Paver Stone purchases is May 2011. Your purchase is tax deductible.

The LeMay Museum will be the biggest collector car museum in North America.

The Provincial Governments in SK and NS are considering placing ride height restrictions on motor vehicles.

Watch this carefully as it may also filter down to the Hot Rod / Street Rod community.

Here is the discussion document that will be submitted to both Government as well as the CCMTA.

Thank you for your input and support.

Chip Miller Charitable Foundation to Host World Premiere of "The Quest" Documentary Film to Showcase International Automotive Flavor and Celebrate the Life of Chip Miller. World Premiere Friday, May 6th at 7:30 p.m. at the Carlisle Theatre in Carlisle, PA. Tickets are available at www.QuestDocumentary.com.

This is a special year and a special time for Carlisle Events. No matter what show you attend or what E-News you subscribe to, you're a part of our family and it's that bond we share with you that has you receiving this very special E-News from CJ'S CORVETTES in Erie, Pa.

Lance Miller writes:

"We're very excited about the upcoming premiere of the feature length documentary film called "The Quest." This movie will debut on May 6, 2011 at the Carlisle Theatre in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. A dear friend, Michael Brown, took more than a year of time and energy out of his life to focus on "The Quest." Once complete, Michael informed the Chip Miller Charitable Foundation that he would donate all proceeds from the world premiere to the Foundation. Our board members were floored by his generosity and we jumped right into making the arrangements.

We are thrilled to announce that this one-time special viewing will be held in Carlisle at the theatre located just over one mile from where my father and his best friend Bill Miller Jr. started their collector car events business. Located in downtown Carlisle, the Carlisle Theatre is an elegant theater with plenty of character making it the perfect place to premiere this superbly captured story about my father's dream. I'd personally like to take this opportunity to invite you to the premiere and encourage you to visit the website that shares the price, trailer and more regarding our event."

Bill Miller Jr. adds:

"When you watch the trailer for this film, you feel the passion Chip had for all cars, and especially this one. This was Chip's way of life for everything he did. His family, his business and his hobby all benefited from his enthusiasm. I met Chip in 1969, and until his death in 2004, we were business partners, best friends, and shared a hobby that brought us friends from all over the world."

Please consider sharing this small part of Chip's life with the entire Carlisle Events family and everyone else in attendance by joining us at the "Quest Premiere" and reception May 6, 2011.

We'd love to personally shake your hand and thank you during the premiere.

Thank you for your time and support!

Bitter Unbowed by Joust With GM

Our beloved Dan W. sent me a (paper - how quaint!) copy of an article from The Province newspaper.  Rather than copy it out, I figured I'd just link directly to author Nigel Matthews article about Eric Bitter and the cars he made.

XCross in the Pitt

We had forty-three drivers test their skill at the Pitt Meadows Driving Centre.  Because of the uncertain weather, I persuaded Don Williams to attend, and we had gorgeous sunshine all day.  The stars of the show were dedicated club members who volunteered their day to making the event run.  Jim Waugh handled registration; Lew Berry, Rosalie Sinden, Sue Williams, and Gillian Heyes handled timing; Stewart Heyes was our starter and Don Williams coordinated vehicle entry to the facility; and naturally Dan Ward was there to record the event on video.  Of course our other members who competed also pitched in to make the event a success, and these included Nigel Wheway (who also assisted myself and Stewart Heyes set up the course on the previous evening), Paul McAlduff , Terry McAlduff, Krista McAlduff, Ken Butcher, Geoffrey Chang, Blair Degenstein, Marj Bowen and David Mitten.
With our new timing equipment we were able to space out the start and finish box safely away from the timing people, and since we could start one car before the car on course finished, the turn around on runs was improved immensely.  Thus each driver was able to make seven runs, and most drivers improved their times steadily with the fastest run typically being the last run of the day.
Fastest time of the day was set by Corvette driver Jim Sandwith from Victoria in his propane powered C4 with super sticky slicks.  But Paul McAlduff was close behind with his C5 Z06.  Paul was also kind enough to have his company Tireland provide some prizes for the participants and volunteers.
There was a great selection of cars, but the GM brand was in the majority.  In  addition to   Corvettes (including C2, C4, C5, C6), there were two CTS-V Cadillac’s (former member Jack Baryluk driving one), six Fieros, and a Camaro.  We also had representation from Porsche, BMW, and a variety of Japanese cars.
Everyone left at  the end of the day with a smile on their face, and I have already received a number of emails from participants thanking the Corvette Club and our volunteers for making the day possible.  For all of you Corvette owners that missed this event, I invite you to try the Autocross next year and experience the joy and performance of which your Corvette is capable.

20 Years of Guaranteed Sun!

Two decades and still going strong!  The 20th Waterfront Show and Shine was held on July 4th this year and a great turnout of 53 members and 13 non members made this a very successful event.  As usual, the “guaranteed” good weather was appreciated by all who attended.
Some of the latecomers did not register but added to the number of cars to enjoy.  Everyone also enjoyed the plentiful restaurants, the pubs, and the shopping at the nearby Quay.
Thanks to our generous fellow Corvetters who donated numerous door prizes, and a special thanks to all who stepped forward to lend a hand with car placement, registration, ballot counting, 50/50 ticket sales, and handing out the trophies.  Since so many helped, we don’t have the space to list all of you – but everyone knows who helped out!

This year, wonderful trophies for first and second place in all classes and Peoples’ Choice were handed out, with many of the trophies going to some very deserving first time recipients.  It was a great event!
